Teaching & Leadership Experience

I have gained diverse teaching and leadership experience through my work at Saint Mary’s College of California, where I instructed Physical Education courses and supported student development in an active learning environment. I also have served as a co-traveler on the schools unique Jan Term program, where we traveled to Australia and I helped guide 16 students through volunteer experiences and wildlife conservation efforts. Beyond the classroom, I have taught dancing with local groups and venues, as well as coached soccer for athletes of all ages by designing weekly practice plans and fostering a positive, growth-oriented culture. These experiences have strengthened my passion for education and mentorship, reinforcing my long term goal of becoming a college professor.

Saint Mary’s College of California

I have had the opportunity to work at Saint Mary’s College, where I independently instructed Physical Education courses focused on teamwork and technical soccer skill advancement. In this role, I developed lesson plans, led structured activities, and created an inclusive, supportive environment that encouraged students of all skill levels to build confidence and stay engaged. I assessed student progress and adapted instruction to meet diverse needs, which helped reinforce personal and physical development.

Additionally, I have extensive experience coaching soccer with players of all ages. As the head coach for the Women’s Club Soccer team at Saint Mary’s, I designed and implemented weekly practice plans that focused on skill development, game strategy, and team bonding. My coaching style emphasizes encouragement, communication, and growth, helping players not only with their physical skills but also with their confidence, discipline, and teamwork. This experience began with my lifelong passion for soccer, where I played on the team as an undergraduate student at the college and transitioned into a coaching role during my time in my Master’s program.

These experiences have deepened my passion for mentorship and education, and allowed me to gain real world experience teaching and inspiring students.

Australia: Leadership Abroad

I served as a co-traveler for Saint Mary’s College January Term program, where I, alongside Professor Derek Marks, helped guide and support a cohort of 16 students through an immersive, travel based learning experience. Throughout the trip, we engaged in hands on animal rescue and wildlife conservation efforts, working with numerous non-profit groups to contribute to their missions. This allowed for students to directly contribute to environmental initiatives while gaining a deeper understanding of global sustainability practices. I played an active role in facilitating group logistics and maintaining positive dynamics, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, and encouraging personal growth throughout the cross-country experience.

This experience strengthened my leadership, adaptability, and mentorship skills, while simultaneously reinforcing my passions for wildlife, travel, and education.
